This exciting program introduces participants to the exciting process of creating a short film!


About the program

You will study cinema production right next door to America’s entertainment headquarters. Teachers have included Columbia University instructors and directors and technicians who’ve worked on major Hollywood productions, including projects with George Lucas and Oliver Stone. Hollywood insiders will teach you how to write a short screenplay and draw storyboards detailing each shot of your movie. You will also learn basic camera moves and your improve skills and framing through fieldwork.

After completing the shoot, students learn to edit and add effects to the film. At the end of the program, participants present their work to other students in a movie showcase. Students also experience a behind-scenes look at movie making with visits to important movie studios and other fascinating sites related to the film industry.

  • Excursions to Warner Brothers, SONY MGM and Paramount studios and the Make-Up Designory
